Experiential Learning & Mentorship (ELM) Program is structured similar to ASH teams within the Honors College, incorporating close faculty mentorship, authentic research, sustained student engagement, and meaningful financial support—while creating a smaller and more flexible structure. Each ELM project would consist of one faculty mentor and two undergraduate students.

Each ELM team funded by the Center for the Humanities will consist of:

• 1 humanities* faculty mentor — $1,500/year
• 2 undergraduate student researchers
• A clearly defined research, creative, or design project
• A commitment of approximately two academic years
• A student scholarship of $3,000 per student per year

Examples

• A faculty member in the Philosophy of Science placing Humanities-focused students in STEM environments, such as laboratories and fieldwork.
• A faculty member in Ethnomusicology conducting archival research in collaboration with students culminating in a public presentation
• A faculty member in the School of Visual Studies working with students to curate an exhibit of original artwork.
